Day 47 - "Gonna Fly Now"

Day 47 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania home of the Liberty Bell and Rocky's Stairs

We decided we needed a day of truism and we never saw the Liberty Bell so off we went.

"We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal..."

Independence Hall echoes these words. Nearby the old cracked Bell proclaims liberty. The spirit of Franklin is alive in his adopted city.

The State House bell, now known as the Liberty Bell, rang in the tower of the Pennsylvania State House. Today, we call that building Independence Hall. Speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly Isaac Norris first ordered a bell for the bell tower in 1751 from the Whitechapel Foundry in London. That bell cracked on the first test ring. Local metalworkers John Pass and John Stow melted down that bell and cast a new one right here in Philadelphia. It's this bell that would ring to call lawmakers to their meetings and the townspeople together to hear the reading of the news. It's not until the 1830's that the old State House

Day 44 - Hornell's Treasures

Day 44 - Hornell, New York. Home of Hank

I found Texas in Hornell, I think I'm gonna like it here...

We found an original picture from Harvey & Carey's. A place where Hank's Grandma use to take his brother and him too. She fed all three of them for under a buck.

Hank's Mom took us to a place called Erie Line Antiques that houses three stories of Hornell's treasures. I remember when I had one of these.

Christmas Parade on main street

Santa even came to visit.

It was too cold to wait for the tree lighting so we headed to the car. I tried to catch a glimpse from the backseat

This nativity set always kept my attention
